HAVE YOU PICKED UP YOUR CROSS

The Bible tells you to take up your cross and to follow Jesus!

Matthew 16: 24 makes it clear that you need to deny yourself and then take up your cross and follow Jesus!

Let us be clear: "No one wants to experience the reality of the cross!" It is not a fun object but a cruel way of death invented by the Romans. But what does the "the cross" stand for then for the Christian?

It is a place where you deny yourself, your own ways and your own desires. It is a place where you "die to yourself" and become alive in Christ! Jesus died so that we could experience true life! Now we need to die so that His life can take effect in us, for us and through us!

Also be clear clear: You pick up your own cross! You do not even try to pick up the cross of another person, nor do you compare your cross with that of another person! Jesus have a specific cross for you and for you alone!

It is the prayer of John the Baptist.

Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ I want to pick up the cross that you intended me to carry. Grant me the grace to deny myself; my way of thinking and my way of doing things. Replace my desires with Heaven;s desires! I need to decrease so that you can keep increasing in me! In Jesus' name, amen!
