Learn but do not Repeat

The lesson from the Titanic

They said it was the ship that could never sink. The ego of man was pumped up by this technological marvel for its time! No consideration was given to God. Sadly the rest is history though, for on her maiden voyage the "majestic ship" met an iceberg and went down a watery grave.

What is the lesson?

1 Corinthians 10:12 (AMP)

Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation].

The pride (and haughtiness) and ego of a man (or woman) will always lead to a great fall.

Proverbs 16:18

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Learn from the people around us and from those who are no longer with us.

There is a interesting yet powerful Scripture in The Bible.

1 Corinthians 10:11-13

These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.  So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall!  No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

So when we look back at those who were before us (or those who are still with us) and we consider their actions; let it never be to judge; but to learn from them! We learn from their successes and their failures.

Even failures are great teachers when we learn not to repeat them. That what caused you to stumble today, can be your stepping stone tomorrow.
