PRIORITIES IN LIFE

It starts with an important Scripture:

Matthew 6:33

"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

Now it is is easy to say that God is your first priority, but is it truly so. We do not speak of what is your confession, no we speak of what is the evidence showing?

Let us give an example. You are about to go to your regular Sunday morning service and family or friends stop at the door. What are you going to do? Will you invite them in and start fellowshipping with them - meaning you are not going to fellowship with the rest of the Church. Yes, I know human nature is to say that I cannot leave them at the door; they are here now - for sure God will understand!

Or, will you say to them that it not a convenient time now as you are on your way to church. If it is family that came a long way, you envite them in, make them comfortable but at the end be on your way to church...

God will understand

We love to say this (afterall He is a loving God), but we forget that Scripture also say that He is a jealous God. God wants your heart above all else, but our actions are the outflow of what our deepest desires, motives and prioroties are.

Consider the following Scripture:

Haggai 1: 4-6

“Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin? Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.”

The Scripture speaks for itself, but it asks us to consider the priorities of our hearts and check it aggaisnt the realities of our lives.

So again the question?

What is the state of your priorities? Is God first?
